| The Guild of Blades Publishing
Group is a Detroit area based adventure games and entertainment publishing
company. The Guild's first publication was the Guild of Blades club magazine
released in 1994 and the company was officially founded two years later
in 1996. The Guild of Blades began as a small part time venture between
Ryan Johnson and Bruce Dowrie. Its first product, released in 1996 was
the Grunt Fantasy Miniature Battles miniatures game, which proved a solid
success for a "small press" company. In 1998 the Guild expanded its game
lines with the introduction of the Dark Realms Role Playing Game and its
first Empires of History Game, The War to End All Wars.
1999 was a tremendous growth year for the Guild of Blades, with the release of many new Empires of History Games, expansion of the Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants RPG line, introduction of the Heroes Forever RPG and much more. Europe 1483 was first published and the 1483 Online game was initially launched as a play-by-email game. 1999 was also a pivitol year in the nature of the hobby game market and the consistency of its distribution systems. Due to the changes in its primary market, the Guild of Blades began a slow transition to internalize most aspects of its manufacturing process, which has helped to catapult the company to new hieghts in the years since. With 10 years and 140+ titles produced, the Guild of Blades remains a strong and vibrant small publishing firm. Today the company consists of a staff of 4 plus it utilizes a number of freelance workers for creative contributions such as commissioned artwork, editing, game design, and sales representatives. The company is still primarily owned by its founders, yet has brought on several additional investors over the years. The Guild of Blades remains focussed on the production of creative intellectual properties with strong ties to game production for several platforms, including traditional print games, games in digital formats such as PDFs, interactive computer games and online games. Additionally the company operates a small print shop that is primarily used to support the production of its own products and its strategic partners. 2005 will see the official launch of the long anticipated Guild of Blades Fiction Group. The Guild of Blades primary brands today are its Empires of History line of boardgames, the Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants Fantasy Quest Game, Heroes Forever RPG, Overlords: Fantasy Battlescape Wargame, Button Wars: Tactical Spaceship Combat Game and Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants RPG. Older products lines such as the Dark Realms RPG, Grunt Fantasy Battles and more are seeing new life through the Guild's new PDF Game Products, and new initiatives in the computer games and fiction markets show for a promising future for the company. Investors: The Guild of Blades is not looking for outside investors at this time. Though the company remains open to discussions on any serious business inquiries and proposals on ventures with synergies to the company's brands and core operations. Retailers: The Guild of Blades sells its products world wide. In recent years, largely due to changes in the hobby distribution tier, the Guild has built up a reliable and easy to use direct-to-retail order process that has allowed us to offer all legitimate retailers a 55% standard discount with no minimum orders. Check out our Retail Support Pages for more information. Distributors & Wholesellers: The Guild of Blades has sold products through the distribution channel since the company's inception. In recent years and the constrictions in the wholesale channel and the mass avalanche of products both many distributors and our own company have parted ways and the Guild has developed alternate forms of distribution. The Guild is still interested in wholesale arrangements, but mandates all North American distributors operate under an established wholesale license that dictates minimum stock and service levels to insure quality of service to our retailers. See the contact information on your right. Licensors & Licensees: The Guild of Blades is always interested in pursuing potential profitable licensing agreements, either in the form of the Guild publishing games, fiction and other materials of your intellectual properties, or other companies that are interested in licensing our intellectual properties for use in other industries. To our fans and customers: The Guild
is always interested in hearing feedback on our products and we want to
hear what sorts of games you would like our company to produce. You can
send comments to webmaster@guildofblades.com
or visit out Pre Order Pages to express your interest in potential new
releases.
