The new second edition of the Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants Fantasy Board Game will be bringing both packaging upgrades and expanded game play options. On the packaging front the new game will include a nice, single piece folding 17" x 22" full color game board, 10 resin cast figurines, approximately 145 cards (nearly twice the encounter cards, items, quests, etc, than in the original game), revised rule booklet, plastic slave tokens, black zones pull out chart, D10 and more. 

Expanded number of cards vastly expands the random encounters, available quests, and spells and items available to the characters. The second edition is 100% compatible with the 1st edition and the various 1st expansions. To provide added value in the second edition, the 10 resin figurines for the second edition represent 10 all new characters, meaning the original 15 card stock characters in the first edition are still playable as well.

The Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants Dungeon Crawl Tile Board Game is a new product line loosely tied to the Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants RPG. The Dungeon Crawl Tile Board Game is an easy to play fantasy board game where up to 9 players quest to explore the custome made dungeon, defeat the challenges presented, gather gold and other riches, and escape the dungeon alive. Players may use one of the pre set characters or they may generate new characters using the WHAT RPG and conversion rules. The game also includes the complete printed version  of the Introductory Edition of the Worlds of Heroes & Tyrants RPG.

What makes the Dungeon Crawl Tile Boardgame a bit unique is that there is Realm Master for each game who uses the tiles included in the game to generate the Dungeons the players will be exploring. The twist is, unlike in RPGs, this person is a player as well and has the goal of eliminating all of the players. His power is balanced by the fact that he must populate the Dungeon with a mix of both good and bad encounters, weapons, magics, traps, etc. If the Realm Master can succeed in destroying all of the players before any can escape the Dungeon with treasure, then he wins the game.

The Guild of Blades long line of historically accurate Axis & Allies variant board games will finally include World War II. In typical fashion, Empires of History: WWII will be a historically accurate strategy game covering the entire conflict. While other publishers offer you a game covering the European theatre or the Pacific, or both, but in two separate games that don't link together, the Guild offers a comprehensive game covering the entire war. 

Empires of History: WWII will be one of the first of our A&A variants to utilize our new game board productions. The game will include a total of 4 one piece folding, full color, game boards. Two of these boards will link together to provide a hard mounted 22" x 34" European Theatre map and the other two will link together to provide a 22" x 34" Pacific Theatre map. Both maps will provide a large and detailed view of each theatre, editing out unneccessary "ocean" territories of the deep pacific and deep atlantic in order to provide the best detail possible for the actual theatres of conflict. But fear not, offmap zone areas will include all of North America, South America and Southern Africa (those portions of Africa not represented on the European map) so the game can provide a full world view of the war. Also included will be 648 plastic playing tokens and playing token stickers, a comprehensive rule book and reference charts, D10, and technology and nation score sheets.

The next product in 1483 Medieval Series to get upgraded to a box set. Africa 1483 will be playable as a stand alone game, though it is primarily designed to be linked to Europe 1483. Game to include 28" x 40" full color game map. Australia and New Zealand will be presented on this map as well. Designed to be cut away for later use with the Asia 1483 expansion. Additionally this product will include 324 plastic playing tokens and playing token stickers (enough for 3 large and 3 small armies), game rules, D10, and assorted cut out markers.

Pantheons: War of the Mythos is an Alternate history series game presenting a mythic conflict between the world's greatest pantheons. Each pantheon is awarded territory roughly equal to the lands influenced by that pantheon at its height. Play Zeus and the Greeks, Ra and the Egyptians, Odin and the Norse, the Celts, Babylonians, Indians and more. The gods of each pantheon lead a host of legendary heroes, supported by armies in an attempt to conquer all other pantheons. Be careful what forces you call to arms, as super powerful factions such as Heaven, Hell, the Four Horsemen, the Titans and more can also be brought into play.

Alexander the Great was one of the world's great conquerors. Alexander the Great will be offering a fast paced game recounting his conquests. The core game is a two player starting just before Alexander's war on the Persian Empire. The game will include a one piece, folding, 17" x 22" full color game board and include (approx) 270 plastic playing tokens and playing token stickers, game rules, 1D10, and misc territory markers. As an expanded game option allowing up to 5 players, the map will have secondary marks indicating the boundaries of the successort states to Alexander's Empire. Coupled with the "Successors to Empire" expansion, this provides a second game to be played.

Successors to Empire Expansion. This expansion will come in a smaller box and include a rules and scenarion booklet for games set in the post-Alexander period. Included will be an additional 324 plastic playing tokens and playing token stickers for the armies of the successor states. Likely retail of $14.95.

The African 30 Years War is a game covering the conflict between Chad and Libya, often nick named the Toyota Wars. A game for 2-4 players. In this amazingly unique fantasy empire building game players begin play with a large city state. From that meager beginning players must forge an empire, conquering neighboring cities, forging alliances and non aggression pacts, and confronting powerful player and non player empires. BEWARE, THIS IS NOT JUST A WARGAME! Far from. Using the Empires of History combat system, Rising Empires is a game of vast depth where managing your military is just one of several important task in managing and growing your empire. You will be responsible for managing the economics of your empire, from food production, mining, lumberjacking, ship building, building roads and fortresses and more. Perhaps most important are the rebellions. Every empire risks facing rebellions from its conquered peoples. In this game, rebellion and internal strife can topple more empires that the might of foriegn armies. The strongest amy in the world will ultimately fail if your empire has no infrastructure; no roads to help them move from point A to point B in a reasonable time. Your people will starve without sufficient aggriculture.

Rising Empires introduces several great new features in fantasy board/wargaming. 

1) The first of these is the "Hex within a Hex" mapping system. The game will come with a nice one piece, full color 17" x 22" fantasy world, broken up into 1" hex-like territories. Each territory on the main map will have artwork and color markings to indicate its primary terrain type and to show the course of rivers. From there the "Hex within a Hex" system takes over. Included with the game will be approximately 200 pre generated "Sub Hexes" game sheets. Each "territory/hex" on the main map gets zoomed in at, where you actually play on a more detailed "Sub Hex" game sheet. The Sub Hex sheet is a hex-like board that actaully contains 37 one inch Sub Hexes on it. In this fashion, the primary game mapboard may be expanded to represent a MUCH larger and more details game world. Yet each Hex can present different terrain features and layout from game to game. Sub Hex sheets may be photocopied for endless play, allowing detailed game data to be written directly onto the Sub Hexes, keeping the gameboard from becoming too overwhelmed by game tokens.

2) A Fog of War feature helps to hide much of the game world from other players. Players may only see those hexes on the main map that have been explored. Further, details on the strength of independent NPC kingdoms also remains unknown until intelligence units can gather that knowledge for players. But most unique, many of the units within the game travel upside down on the map. Only labor units, and military units such as infantry, archers, cavlary, etc travel face up for all players to see what they are. Everything else, from messengers, to wizards, intelligence units, generals, wizards, supply teams, and even elite combat units travel face down so that players can not tell what is in the field until their own intelligence units can learn these things for them. Even better, for each "intelligence" unit a player has in play, they will also get to place a "fake unit" into play. A fake unit is no unit at all, but rather a counter that is upside down on the board that a player may move about like a unit, hoping to fool or mislead other players. When attacked or scouted these fake units are removed from play, only to be placed back into play the next turn. Fake units represent false rumors, bad intelligence and more; everything that would make gathering correct intelligence in a medieval or fantasy world difficult.

3) Random Development: When new Hex-territories on the main board become mapped out, players will randomly chose one of the pre generated "Sub Hex" sheets to represent that territory. Due to the variety of different "Sub Hex" layouts (Hills, Forests, Mountains, Lakes, etc, all being located in different locations, formations, and quantity, surrounded by the primary terrain type indicated by the terrain type on the Master Board/Map), the actual game map will differ from game to game. Further, the game presents rules for random generation of the NPC towns, cities, and empires that players will encounter on each Sub Hex sheet, so no two games of Rising Empires will *EVER* be the same.

Game to include one 17" x 22" one piece full color game board representing a fantasy game world, 1 detailed game rules booklet, several Map and Kingdom generation charts, 1D10, 1D6, approx 200 pre generated Sub Hex sheets for the different terrain types and approximately 280 plastic playing tokens and playing token stickers (enough playing pieces for 2 player empires and a number of NPC cities and kingdoms). Extra army expansions sets will be available to allow for more players and more NPC kingdoms.

Release Information: Rising Empires is based on an extremely complex empire building game we designed years ago. The map, game mechanics and design are done. We only need convert the combat system over to the Empires of History (A&A variant) system and simplify a few features to make the game easier to play. The Empires of History (A&A variant) game system ventures into the future and into space! Using the epic Empires & Overlords galactic setting first presented in the Guild's "Button Wars" spaceship combat game, players will now be able to assume command of the many unique races and empires and shape the future of the galaxy. Play the humanoid powers of the Thrash Empire, Elvesferran Federation, Duarian Confederacy, Adarkan Empire or Empire of Froth. Or take on a challenge and take one of the minor powers of the Teslam Empire, Lykinee Protectorate, Earth Alliance or Folklonian Empire and raise them to greatness. Alternative game options include bringing in the mighty powers of the Dark Empire or the countless warriors of the Quo-ti Clans. Use diplomacy for forge alliances and break them as you deem neccessary and attempt to recruit non player factions to your side, including gaining the support of the Ucharians, Space Knight Empire, the Cystar, the Voor, pirates of the Free Port region, the Old Ones, the Tygernians or even the Kreons. Beware what forces you set into motion, as some of the ancient races have power beyond anything invisioned by the humanoid races and today's ally could become tomarrow's master. Release Information: The Empires & Overlords game setting and maps are done and detailed, as they are used in Button Wars and on the slate for the WHAT RPG system. So we need only do some play testing to make sure the ships and ground forces balance out well when represented in a board game. We need more articles submissions for the second issue of the Empires of History Magazine. The micro game to be included: "Tito's Partisans" is designed and ready. We have some of the articles, but need some more to fill out the magazine.
